While reflecting on themes of the environment, conflict, and peace, Madarat’s community thought especially about the inadequate temporary shelters so many children in Yemen are growing up in, and the dangers of going to find water in the midst of an ongoing conflict. Deadly Water is a short dramatic short reflecting the chaos and tension that results from military warfare.
A simple tent is the only place a family can turn to for shelter. The tent is rickety and worn, with holes in the canvas and nothing but simple wooden planks to support it. A mother is sitting on the hard ground inside, with the sides of the tent partially open to allow air to pass through. Her 10-year- old son enters the tent, carrying two large oil cans in his hands. His face expresses exhaustion and fear. After throwing the two boxes on the ground, he sits on his knees, trying to catch his breath. His head is tilted down sadly – and when his mother anxiously asks whether he brought water, he sadly explains to her what happened.
While the mother and son are speaking, their neighbour comes in to ask about her own son, who had gone to fetch water too. The boy in the tent sadly tells them that he hasn’t seen his friend as a result of shooting in the area.
Moments later, they hear a loud scream from outside the tent. The neighbour rushes out, clearly terrified of what the screams might mean for her own son. The mother and son follow, a state of panic surrounding the entire community.

Al reflexionar sobre los temas del medio ambiente, los conflictos y la paz, la comunidad de Madarat pensó especialmente en los inadecuados refugios temporales en los que crecen tantos niños en Yemen, y en los peligros de ir a buscar agua en medio de un conflicto en curso. Deadly Water es un cortometraje dramático que refleja el caos y la tensión resultantes de la guerra militar.
Una simple tienda de campaña es el único lugar al que puede acudir una familia en busca de refugio. La tienda está desvencijada y desgastada, con agujeros en la lona y nada más que simples tablones de madera para sostenerla. Una madre está sentada en el duro suelo del interior, con los laterales de la tienda parcialmente abiertos para dejar pasar el aire. Su hijo de 10 años entra en la tienda con dos grandes latas de aceite en las manos. Su rostro expresa agotamiento y miedo. Tras tirar las dos cajas al suelo, se sienta sobre las rodillas, intentando recuperar el aliento. Su cabeza está inclinada hacia abajo tristemente – y cuando su madre le pregunta ansiosamente si ha traído agua, él le explica con tristeza lo sucedido.
Mientras que hablan entre madre e hijo, su vecina entra para preguntar por su propio hijo, que también había ido a buscar agua. El chico de la tienda les cuenta con tristeza que no ha visto a su amigo debido a los tiroteos en la zona.
Momentos después, oyen un fuerte grito fuera de la tienda. La vecina sale corriendo, claramente aterrorizada por lo que los gritos puedan significar para su propio hijo. La madre y el hijo les siguen, y el pánico se apodera de toda la comunidad.

Tout en réfléchissant aux thèmes de l’environnement, des conflits et de la paix, la communauté de Madarat a surtout pensé aux abris temporaires inadéquats dans lesquels grandissent tant d’enfants au Yémen, et aux dangers d’aller chercher de l’eau au milieu d’un conflit en cours. Deadly Water est un court métrage dramatique qui reflète le chaos et la tension qui résultent de la guerre militaire.
Une simple tente est le seul endroit où une famille peut s’abriter. La tente est branlante et usée, avec des trous dans la toile et rien d’autre que de simples planches de bois pour la soutenir. Une mère est assise sur le sol dur à l’intérieur, les côtés de la tente étant partiellement ouverts pour laisser passer l’air. Son fils de 10 ans entre dans la tente, deux gros bidons d’huile à la main. Son visage exprime l’épuisement et la peur. Après avoir jeté les deux boîtes par terre, il s’assoit sur ses genoux, essayant de reprendre son souffle. Il penche tristement la tête vers le bas et, lorsque sa mère lui demande anxieusement s’il a apporté de l’eau, il lui explique tristement ce qui s’est passé.
Pendant que la mère et le fils parlent, leur voisine entre pour s’enquérir de son propre fils, qui était allé chercher de l’eau lui aussi. Le garçon dans la tente leur dit tristement qu’il n’a pas vu son ami à cause des tirs dans la région.
Quelques instants plus tard, ils entendent un grand cri à l’extérieur de la tente. La voisine se précipite, manifestement terrifiée par ce que ces cris pourraient signifier pour son propre fils. La mère et le fils suivent, la panique s’emparant de toute la communauté.

يعكس حالة الفوضى والتوتر الناجمة عن الحروب المستمرة. تمثل الخيمة البسيطة المكان الوحيد الذي يمكن للأسرة اللجوء إليه للحماية والعيش. تظهر الخيمة متهالكة ومهترئة، مع وجود بعض الثقوب في القماش وألواح خشبية بسيطة تدعمها. الأم والفتى يجلسان على الأرض القاسية داخل الخيمة، وجوانب الخيمة مفتوحة جزئيا لتمرير الهواء الطفل البالغ من العمر 01 أعوام يدخل الخيمة بسرعة وهو يحمل علبتي زيت كبيرتين بيديه، وجهه يعبر عن الإرهاق والخوف. يلقي العلبتين على الأرض ويجلس على ركبتيه محاولاً التقاط أنفاسه، ورأسه يميل إلى الأسفل بحزن. تتساءل الأم بقلق إذا كان قد قام بجلب الماء، ولكنه ينكر بخجل ويشرح لها ما حدث. خلال الحوار بين الفتى وأمه، تظهر جارتهم مسرعة وتسأل عن ابنها الذي ذهب أيضًا لجلب الماء، لكنه لم يعد بعد. يشير الفتى بحزن إلى أنه لم ير الطفل بسبب إطلاق النار المستمر في المنطقة. في لحظات لاحقة، يسمعون صراخاً عالياً يأتي من خارج الخيمة، وتخرج الجارة بعجلة وقلق، وتلحقها الأم والفتى بسرعة، مما يجسد حالة الرعب والفزع في المشهد.
