
Claire McAllister from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute is the Project Lead for the Environment of Peace 2022 initiative. Before joining SIPRI, Claire spent 12 years as a Civil Servant in the UK Government, most recently as the Deputy Director with responsibility for maritime environment policy.
In 2018, Claire led the UK delegation that agreed a global climate deal for shipping at the International Maritime Organization and in 2019 oversaw delivery of the first ever UK Clean Maritime Plan. Her experience spans domestic and international policy making; EU, UN and commercial negotiations; and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects. During her time as a civil servant, Claire was seconded to the European Commission and the UK ports industry.
